“Our driving force is to give each project that little extra. As the initiators of the environmental labeling ‘Hållbar interiör’ and the platform ‘Inredningsarkitektur.se ‘, we want to contribute to shaping a more sustainable future and a better industry,” says Therese Löwstedt, Interior Architect, partner, and Head of Sustainability at Indicum.

We have published our Sustainability Report 2023

In 2023, the world has continued to struggle with unrest and conflict, while the economy has been uncertain and inflation high. Despite this, awareness of climate change has increased, and the shaky economy has fuelled reuse in interior design projects, reducing CO2 emissions and costs. Many workplaces continue to adapt to the pandemic, which has led to new demands on interiors.

Indicum has been actively involved by working with sustainable interiors and participating as speakers and providing training at various events and schools. We have showcased our new premises in Stockholm and organized exhibitions and events. Most notably, the work on Sustainable Interior has progressed, and the new environmental labeling for interiors is ready for launch in September 2024.

Indicum also won the 2023 Architecture Prize in Uppsala for the work on the interior of Uppsala New City Hall, where the jury emphasised the successful interplay between old and new and the inclusive sustainability aspects. Read more about our work in Indicum’s Sustainability Report 2023.

Sustainable interior architecture involves a committed and innovative focus, integrated into the early stages of projects. Reuse, flexibility, high quality, and transformation through refinement are the clear paths forward. Read more in our sustainability report.
