Uppsala Vatten’s head office is the workplace for around 100 employees from several different departments with varying tasks. The premises therefore need to offer the right conditions for both management and administrative staff and for the employees who divide their time between the office and the work in the various parts of the business, with stormwater management, wastewater treatment, recycling and biogas. When the organisation decided to move to new premises at the end of 2018, it wanted to change its way of working and move from long corridors with cellular offices to a more open and flexible floor plan with room for the business to grow.
Challenge
A major challenge in the project was to retain a large amount of furnishings while creating furnishings that feel new and of high quality. To achieve this, it was important to design a strong concept with a coherent colour scheme and clear material choices that act as a common thread throughout the premises.
The “Green sweet green” concept is based on a colour scheme of green and blue shades and light woods, complemented by details and luminaires to create a more cosy and homely feel. The different colour tones are used on different floors to create variety and greater orientability.
Specially designed graphic patterns were also developed for the project to serve as privacy screens on glass panels. The graphics are inspired by Uppsala Water’s various areas of activity and become a creative and personal element of the premises.
Solution
Thanks to creative and innovative solutions, furnishings could be reused without resulting in a lower design level of the premises.
With its great interest and experience in sustainability issues, Indicum has contributed to the realisation of Uppsala Vatten’s goal of carrying out a move that is as environmentally sustainable as possible. Through creativity and innovative solutions, furnishings have been reused without resulting in a lower level of design in the premises.

Almost 100% reuse was the motto for the move.
