Our assignment was to work with Läkemedelsverket’s move to new premises in Uppsala. The aim of the move was to bring together departments that had previously been scattered in different buildings and to change a way of working from working in cellular offices to working in open landscapes.
Challenge
Due to the tight schedule and budget of the project, a structured and at the same time flexible approach has been required from Indicum, where many parts of the project had to be streamlined in order to meet the delivery times.
Solution
Throughout the project, Indicum has worked closely with the reference group appointed by the MPA. Together with the group, Indicum has drawn up furnishing plans and developed a unique interior design concept for the Medical Products Agency that will also serve as a model and inspire future changes to the premises.
Läkemedelsverket had a smaller budget to work with and also a desire to maintain a high sustainability profile. In order to save money and protect the environment, a greater proportion of existing furniture was reused and, where its condition was poorer, reconditioned with new upholstery and padding. Extra focus has been placed on reusing the furnishings we know have the most environmental impact, such as height-adjustable desks, work chairs, meeting room chairs and meeting tables. New furniture has been chosen based on good environmental labels both in terms of raw materials and textiles.
The interior signals quality, credibility and feels cosy and safe.

The interior design concept is based on an earthy colour scheme of beige and green, accentuated by shades of dark blue and yellow.

“As the project has meant a major change for the MPA both in terms of working methods and in bringing together departments that were previously separate, communication has been key to getting all employees on board and to successfully implement the project in such a short time.”
