In the beginning of summer 2023, Agima moved into their new premises in Garnisonen in Stockholm. Since the start, the project has had a pronounced ambition to be carried out as sustainably as possible. A clear holistic approach to both fixed and loose interior design has been applied.
Challenge
The challenge was to achieve minimal environmental impact with Agima’s move to new premises.
Agima has been meticulous in selecting the property owner. They wanted to find someone who shares their vision and high standards for sustainable choices. Additionally, Agima is participating as a pilot project in Hållbar interiör. They will be able to be one of the first companies in Sweden to eco-label their premises. Key requirements coming from Hållbar interiör included developing analyses of function, flooring, and utilization of the premises. Another important requirement was to produce a current inventory list and clear information about the management of furniture and interior.
Solution
An important aspect was to go through all phases of the project at an early stage and see what we can do to reduce the climate footprint in each part.
It was also important to take the original concept as a starting point. That way, the existing furniture could be reused as much as possible. In the project, we worked on the basis of a waste hierarchy. Firstly, the client’s existing furniture was chosen, secondly, furniture from recycled suppliers and lastly, newly produced alternatives.
Surfaces and fixtures such as floors, kitchenettes and toilets have been chosen in neutral colours. This was done to suit future tenants as well. However, parts that are easy to change and have a lower climate impact have a clear expression to reinforce the concept. For example, the colours of the background walls and foiling give the premises a unique look.
In order to ensure that the premises will function over time, several different scenarios have been drawn up. These scenarios have different numbers of workstations and varying functions. Initially, fewer workplaces have been ordered than are expected to be needed in the coming years. This is to ensure a high degree of utilisation and to supplement over time rather than buying furniture that is not used.
Even curtains have been reused. As the ceiling height was higher than before, the curtains were sewn together to create an exciting pattern.
