Indicum has been commissioned to design the County Administrative Board’s new offices in Uppsala

We are proud to have been entrusted with leading the interior design process as the County Administrative Board of Uppsala relocates to new premises. The move, planned for 2026, is part of the authority’s facility program and aims to adapt the work environment to new needs following the introduction of remote work.

From needs to interior concept

Our assignment includes developing a comprehensive interior concept for the County Administrative Board’s new offices. The work covers everything from color schemes and material selection to furniture proposals, reuse planning, and procurement documents for custom furnishings. We will also coordinate and follow up on the entire relocation project in relation to interiors.

“This is a complex and important project where multiple perspectives must be aligned – such as security, work environment, sustainability and functionality. Our strength lies in combining design expertise with long experience from public sector projects” says Kristin Östberg, interior architect and founder of Indicum.

Sustainability and reuse in focus

Indicum has extensive experience in developing work environments for government authorities and always works with sustainability as a guiding principle. By planning for reuse, long lifespans, and circular solutions, we can both reduce climate impact and create cost-effective environments.

The project team is led by Kristin Östberg, together with Cecilia Tjärnberg and Lovisa Sandström, both interior architects at Indicum with particular expertise in reuse, materiality, and workplace development.

Local presence – long-term commitment

With offices in both Stockholm and Uppsala, we are close at hand for site visits, coordination, and follow-up. The project is scheduled to run until August 2026, with the possibility of extension.

“Our ambition is to create a work environment that meets the County Administrative Boards’s needs today while remaining relevant over time – practically, aesthetically and in terms of climate.” says Kristin Östberg.
