Kristin from Indicum moderated the seminar “Sustainable Interior – The Key to Future Sustainable Spaces” on the “Industry Talks” stage, organized by the Swedish Wood and Furniture Industry Association.

Sophia Engström from RISE explained what Hållbar Interiör means and why it is important. She highlighted that it involves making visible the climate impact from a building’s interior elements, which is often greater than the parts typically considered when discussing a building’s carbon footprint. She also shared that Hållbar Interiör is largely about promoting reuse and circular models. According to her, Sweden is lagging behind in terms of circulation and reuse, especially when compared to the rest of Europe.

Next, Martin Pollak from Ogeborg shared his experiences of certifying their offices in Stockholm with the HI label, and Robin Ljungar from the Swedish Wood and Furniture Industry Association described how the certification impacts their members through the inventory classification included in the HI certification.
