“We had great courses in both furniture design and interior architecture with a focus on sustainability. But they were just separate courses about sustainability. Issues of sustainability should be raised all the time, not just in individual courses,” says Cecilia Tjärnberg, interior architect SIR/MSA at Indicum inredningsarkitekter.

Indicum is part of IA’s panel discussion at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023!

10 February, 12.00-12.45. Greenhouse Bar by Nola.

During this year’s furniture fair, we sit down with representatives from Konsfack and the University of Gothenburg to talk about how the role of the interior architect is changing in line with increased demands for sustainability in interior architecture projects. What is the role of interior architects today and in the future? Will the profession change or change direction? Perhaps we will see a specialisation in the areas of design, project management or sustainability. The changes in the world around us place great demands on the knowledge of today’s interior architects. Do interior architects today have the necessary knowledge to meet these challenges, and what challenges do they currently face in their professional role?

IA is organising the panel discussion and Kristin Östberg, CEO of Indicum Inredningsarkitekter, will moderate. The panel includes Kristina Fridh, professor of interior architecture at Konstfack, Emilia Forsman, student on the master’s programme at Konstfack, Cecilia Tjärnberg, interior architect at Indicum, and Torsten Hild, professor of furniture design at the University of Gothenburg.
