We want to increase the value of Swedish hardwood through the Kvist & Knot project. Through innovative design, the project will demonstrate the benefits of using Swedish hardwood and of using the whole tree, not just the “fillets”.
All wooden furniture produced in Sweden for the public market is manufactured by almost exclusively imported wood. Hardwoods are mainly used in furniture production today, in Swedish forestry is hardwood is a small part. Today we produce wooden furniture with the idea that all furniture of a certain product needs to be exactly identical and that knots, knots or other characteristic features must not be present in the furniture.
We want to explore the potential of using Swedish hardwood in furniture production and investigate how the value of Swedish hardwood can be increased.
